There’s nothing better than welcoming our students back for another amazing year! Our incredible staff, families, and community partners helped us ring in the new year. From warm welcomes to special surprises, our schools and community partners helped make the first day of the 2026-2027 school year one to remember. Take a look!

Before students step onto a bus for the 2026-27 school year, more than 600 Columbus City Schools transportation professionals gathered for hands-on emergency preparedness and safety training. Through the District’s partnership with the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio School Safety Center, drivers, aides, staff, and leaders practiced responding to serious situations with confidence, calm, and care.

Get ready for one of the biggest back-to-school events in the City of Columbus! Join Columbus City Schools (CCS) for the 5th Annual CCS Back-to-School Resource Fair, where families can receive free backpacks, books, and school supplies and connect with more than 100 CCS departments and community partners.

The 15th Annual Columbus City Schools Poetry Slam marked a milestone year, celebrating student voice, creativity, and courage. Nearly 50 middle and high school poets took the stage to perform original works ranging from witty reflections to powerful, socially conscious themes.
